Now, Maruti Suzuki Celerio is all set to launch its new second-gen model that has already been spotted testing on numerous occasions.

The first-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio was the most affordable automatic car to go on sale in the country when it was Launched back in 2014.

It debuted with Maruti’s AMT gearbox technology.

As the news of the second-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio floating around, let’s take a look at what can be expected from the new second-gen hatchback.

Contents

1. More Features Compared To Outgoing Model

The inside of the cabin will be all-new although the new Celerio is expected to share common switchgear with other cars from Maruti’s line-up.

Speculations also suggest an all-new dashboard design with a high-set protruding central console flanked by air-con vents on either side and air-con controls below.

Also, a new design steering wheel is expected, similar to that in the Wagon R.

The new Celerio will also get more tech compared to the other outgoing model from the same brand.

This new generation fully-loaded model is expected to come kitted with Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio infotainment system.

2. Option Of A 1.2-Litre Petrol Engine

Another big change to the new Celerio is expected to be joined by the larger and more potent 83hp 1.2-litre K12 unit from the Wagon R.

Along with this, the current BS6-compliant 1.0-liter three-cylinder K10 unit.

Gearbox options are most likely to be similar to the Wagon R as well, with a 5-speed manual as standard and a 5-speed AMT offered as an option.

3. Maruti’s Heartect Modular Lightweight Platform

The second-gen Celerio will be underpinned by Maruti’s Heartect platform, which also underpins models such as the S-Presso and Wagon R.

With the new platform, it will also have a growth in size, so the new model is expected to sit on a longer wheelbase.

It will also have a wider cabin to boost occupant comfort.

4. Latest Design Language

The new generation Celerio will also follow Maruti’s latest design language.

The speculated images reveal design details like an upright and flattish nose, likely to meet the pedestrian safety norms.

Apart from that, it will also have details such as a slim grille, swept-back headlamps, tear-drop-shaped tail-lamps, a more reclined rear windshield and a rounded rear end.

5. Rival With Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro

The second-gen hatchback will compete with the likes of Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Santro and the price range will be between Rs 4.5 to 6.5 lakh.
