The Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota seems to be all set to unveil its Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is said to be a proper crack at the intensely competitive compact SUV segment.
The new launch is developed on a Suzuki architecture, this compact SUV will come with plenty of firsts for India.
To start with, it’ll also have a non-identical twin from Maruti Suzuki.
Let’s go through a Four-point guide on what Toyota’s newest entry in India will boast.
Contents
New Muscular Looks
Considering the teasers and earlier leaks, the compact SUV boasts a bit of muscle starting with that beefy bonnet.
But one can not deny a bit of Glanza inspiration, thanks to split LED DRLs connected via a chrome strip, and a massive air dam. Besides this, wrap-around tail lamps with C-shaped LED light guides are connected via a chrome strip and a hybrid badge on the front doors.
Interiors Having Premium Feel
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is likely to come with a premium cabin look from the sole teaser video of the cabin.
With a soft-touch leather section on the dashboard, chrome accents on the door trims, as well as a dual-tone black and chocolate brown layout, it definitely sounds premium.
Coming to the center console, it seems simple, yet functional with buttons all over, and no rotary knobs or touch-sensitive bits.
Plenty Of New Features
This new launch from Toyota is slated to come with a slew of features including a 9-inch Suzuki touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control and connected car tech.
You can also expect a wireless phone charger, head-up display and a sunroof.
This new launch has a lot of firsts starting with a segment-first 1.5-litre 116PS strong hybrid petrol engine.
It will also be offered with a 1.5-litre 103PS mild-hybrid petrol motor option.
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder will also have a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox options which are for the mild-hybrid engine, while the strong hybrid will get an e-CVT gearbox.
The other first in the segment will come in the form of all-wheel drive (AWD) for the mild-hybrid variants while the strong hybrid will be a front-wheel drive model.
Launch date And Competition
During August, a series production of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will commence at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka..
This suggests a launch sometime in early September.
For the interested, selected dealerships have also commenced unofficial bookings across the country.
In terms of Prices, it should start from Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the MG Astor.
