Latest developments reveal that the American technology giant, Google is all set to launch its own Pixel Watch this year.

Implementing Wear OS

Since we are talking about Google, then it’s no guess that the new upcoming smartwatch will be powered by Google’s own operating system for wearable devices, i.e. Wear OS.

With this development, it looks like Google has revamp its Wear OS Play Store which was earlier being sidelining by the company for long as mentioned by the sources.

So now, Google has revamped the dedicated Wear OS Play Store landing page, According to a report in 9to5Google.

Now the search engine maker is giving more prominence to featured apps and watchfaces on the wearable platform.

New Features To Be Expected

Prior to this, Google had added some new features to the store last month too, by adding more options for users with Google Wear OS devices.

If we talk about working of Wear OS by Google, then it seems to be working with phones running the latest version of Android (excluding Go edition and phones without Google Play Store) and Apple iOS.

There are many other smartwatches running on the wear OS includes the names like TicWatch Pro 3, Oppo watch, Diesel On Fadelite Smartwatch, Tag Heuer Connected, Skagen Falster 3, Puma smartwatch; and smartwatches from Fossil and Casio.

Considering the changes, “Google has added some color and greater prominence for sections that include “Featured app,” “Apps to get you started,” and “Featured Watch Faces” with colored header sections helping distinguish.

Apart from this, the new core sections now also include a “Must-have tools,” “Games on Wear OS,” “Music & radio apps,” “Fitness apps,” “Finance apps,” and “Weather apps,” as per the report.

On the other hand there are some deductions too as the new page has “Top free,” “Top grossing,” “Trending,” and “Top paid” sections missing.

While tThe section pages have got a new look reportedly.

How Does New Changes Affect The Users?

On the  subject of how these new changes will affect users, the report said, “It might help you find more apps to install on your wristwatch, but it doesn’t affect overall usability too much,”.

Recently, the Wear OS has come up with a UV Index complication for watch faces.

Here ultraviolet index ranges from 0 to 11+, which is an “international standard measurement of the strength of sunburn-producing ultraviolet radiation at a particular place and time.”

What About Google Fans?

So far, the Google fans are said to be waiting for a smartwatch from the company for a long time.

In terms of display, the alleged upcoming watch is said to sport a circular display and run on the company’s own chipset.

For the launch date, rumors say that Google may launch this upcoming watch along with Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 XL later this year.

Earlier, in 2019, Google acquired the wearables fitness giant Fitbit in a 2.1 billion deal.

Lets see if this upcoming watch has Fitbit’s magic since it is being the pioneer of the fitness tracker industry.
