Right since the onset of a nationwide lockdown and pandemic declaration, offices and workplaces have shifted their workstations remotely, enabling the Work from Home model.
We have incessantly been covering relaxations and compensations given by different organizations to their employees, so as to ensure a healthy mind and body for them.
Now, almost 7 months post the nationwide lockdown, the IT giant HCL Tech has announced to start in-office operations, starting with one day a week at a time.

IT Giant To Start Office Operations
Business Insider reported that HCL Technologies is all welcome its employees back to office, starting from one day a week.
“We’re telling employees to come at least once in a week to start with, and probably by December, you can do one or two days in a week,” says Apparao VV, Chief Human Resources Officer.
As of now, the giant is functioning with only 6-7% staff in office at a time but it hopes to pull this number to about 20% by December.
Who All Are Restricted for In-Office Operations?
It happens that HCL Tech is not allowing just any employee to work from within the office.
Despite all set to initiate its offices hustling with employees, the IT giant is only allowing a set of employees to attend the work-centres.
- Employees with children below the age of five,
- Employees with parents over 50 years of age living with them, and
- Employees who are of 50-55 years of age
Are exempted to join office and are asked to work from home, as of now.
Apparao added that the whole process of starting in-office operations shall be implemented phase-wise.
There will not be any more than 20% capacity in any of the company’s developmental centres.
In-Office Meal Arrangements
HCL Tech has taken all the precautions for their employees returning to office centres.
In order to ensure a distance of at least 3 feet between each employee, the company has removed chairs between them.
“We won’t be leaving anything to chance,” said Apparao.
Employees are asked to log in and share their preferences about food and meals, a night before the office so that food vendors may be informed well in advance.
Due to the pandemic, only vendors will provide the food. The options may be a little limited, but it’s a necessary precaution.
HCL Tech to Hire Over 9000 Freshers by March 2021
Apparao also informed that HCL Tech is looking forward to hiring significantly over the next three months with an aim of onboarding another 9,000 freshers by the end of March.
In fact, this October, the IT giant started to implement salary hikes for certain employees.
While employees upto E3 level started receiving salary hikes from Oct 1, 2020, the same for employees of E4 level and above will start from January 1, 2021.
