Russia’s 1st COVID Vaccine to be Registered this Week

The urgency of the Covid-19 vaccine, is the peak need of the hour.

There are, as of now, over 160 candidates in the race of developing the 1st successful vaccine, all at different stages of trials.

Of these, 27 candidates have successfully made it to the human trial level.

Speaking of Russia, its vaccine is developed by the country’s Gamaleya National Research Centre and the Russian Defence Ministry.

A Brief Into this Vaccine

  • The vector candidate of Russia’s vaccine is an adenovirus-based viral vector vaccine, integrated with the protein of SARS-CoV-2 virus, which induces an immune response in the body.
  • The scientists and medical experts involved in the vaccine production informed that the particles, which cannot reproduce, are not considered alive.
  • This vaccine created by the Russians, cannot multiply the coronavirus particles in the vaccine, thus they cannot harm the body.

When is the Vaccine Anticipated to Release?

While the vaccine is to be registered on Aug 12, the clinical trials had already begun on June 18, which included 38 volunteers.

On their discharge on July 15, it was reported that all 15 candidates developed immunity. The send batch was admitted on July 20.

A Russian agency has reported that the country is in the initial stage of planning serial production of the vaccine by September.
