Instagram Reels Launched In India For TikTok Fans Gasping For Better Alternatives? (How To Use?)
Instagram has now launched its short video feature Reels, which is, on some levels, a decent alternative for TikTok fans.
Reels from Instagram can become one of the alternatives for TikTok fans, who are gasping for better alternatives.
Can Reels replace the popularity of TikTok.
Instagram Reels Launched For India
Instagram Reels, which is a short-video feature is now available for Indians. It was initially launched in Brazil, and then France, Germany and have received mixed response.
The timing of the launch in India is interesting, since TikTok is banned, and several Made in India alternatives like Chingari, Mitron have launched, even as ShareChat’s Moj and Roposo are trying to capture this craze.
However, Instagram doesn’t believe that they are TikTok rival.
Ajit Mohan, VP & MD, Facebook India said,“This has been in the making for a while. Videos make up more than one-third of all our posts on IG in India and short form videos, in particular, that is less than 15 seconds is about 45% of all videos posted on feed,”
Difference Between Reels and Stories?
As of now, Reels is a feature, which will appear in Stories section by default, and also in Explore section, by default, which can be shared on their feeds by the users.
Hence, some users can find lots of similarities between Stories and Reels.
Explaining the difference, Vishal Shah, VP of Product, Facebook said, “We also realized that stories are not the only place where they wanted to share these videos as they wanted them to stick on for longer and be distributed beyond their followers,”
As of now, Instagram has roped in several influencers such as Ammy Virk, Gippy Grewal, Komal Pandey, and Arjun Kanungo.
What Options Are Available Under Reels?
Users can shoot short 15 seconds videos under Reels feature, and add new/existing music tracks, AR effects, filters and more.
Besides, it has timer, speed, rewind and align options as well.
How To Use Reels?
- Open Reels feature in Stories section
- Click on Audio option, and search for existing music from Instagram’s library
- Or you can create/upload your own track
- Add AR effects, add filters to make them more interesting
- You can speed up the videos, slow down some sections or entire video
