At the start of this year, the e-commerce major Amazon India had announced to create one million new jobs and employment opportunities in India, by 2025.

However, everything obviously halted post the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

Amidst the worsened economic conditions around the globe and bad market scenarios, Amazon India has announced to offer near about 20,000 new temporary employment opportunities.

Amazon India Offers About 20k New Job Offers

The e-comm giant has deiceded to add 20,000 new temporary jobs in its ‘customer service’ (CS) department.

The rising demand in online shopping, particularly due to people wanting to stay in homes during the pandemic period, has pushed the company to take this step forward.

By releasing 20k new CS jobs, Amazon looks forward to help its customers enjoy a seamless online shopping experience.

What is the New Job about?

Out of the 20k new positions promised by Amazon India, most will be a part of the company’s Virtual Customer Service’ programme, providing flexible work-from-home options.

It will include associates support customer services through e-mail, chat, social media and phone.

Anyone with a minimum qualification of 12th standard pass, with a proficiency in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada, is eligible for the role.

The job roles will be open in these cities:

  • Hyderabad
  • Pune
  • Coimbatore
  • Noida
  • Kolkata
  • Jaipur
  • Chandigarh
  • Mangaluru
  • Indore
  • Bhopal, and
  • Lucknow.

Job Holders could Convert into Permanent Employees

The company also informed that shall the candidate’s performance as well as business needs be exemplary, it will see to it that a section of the current temporary positions could convert into permanent positions by the end of this year.
