IT major HCL has confirmed that one of the employees has tested positive for coronavirus. HCL is India’s 3rd biggest IT company, with 1.47 lakh employees.

HCL Employee Confirmed With Coronavirus

The employee had recently returned from an international trip.

Due to the wise decision of the HCL employee to remain in self-isolation mode at his home, the HCL offices were spared and they remain clean of the virus.

In case that employee had visited office, then everyone had to be evacuated.

HCL has stated that they are following all Govt protocols regarding testing and sanitization, and appropirate support to the family members are being provided.

In a statement, HCL said, “Unfortunately, one employee from our Noida office has been tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus while he was in self-isolation after his return from international travel and hence our office is following all government and heath advisory protocols. All prescribed protocols of sanitization and contact tracing have been done. The employee is currently in an isolation ward and all measures are being taken to provide best medical care to him and support to his family,”

HCL has stated they have implemented COVID-19 Contingency Plan across all their offices, and encouraging work from home wherever possible.

Infosys and several other IT firms have already asked work from home for their employees, to stop the spread of coronavirus. With this, total cases in Noida has climbed to 19. 

Almost 70% of all coronavirus cases in Bengaluru have been found in IT employees, who have recently returned from international trips. 

Section 144 Imposed In Noida

Meanhile Noida authorities have imposed Section 144 in Noida, due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

This means that no cultural, social, religious programmes can be organized in Noida, and more 4 people cannot gather in the city.

After the HCL employee case, total cases of coronavirus has climbed to 19 in Noida.
