Last March, YouTube has launched YouTube Premium and YouTube Music in India.

Then users could only subscribe to a monthly plan, but today Google announced that customers in India can prepay for services with an option of one or three months at a time that too without any need for the subscription.

What Does That Mean?

Good news for YouTube Premium and Music Premium users as these streaming services now come with non-recurring prepaid plans as well.

Moreover, this means that now users can pay upfront for the premium ad-free subscription of YouTube as opposed to the monthly recurring billing cycle.

If still you are confused about these premium services provided by Youtube – 

YouTube Premium is a paid service that gives subscribers access to YouTube’s entire catalog of music and videos without any disturbance from the advertisements which are normally present.

How Does It Work?

This new YouTube Music prepaid plans in India start from Rs 109 for a month and Rs 309 will be charged for a period of three months. 

 On the other hand, if we talk about the YouTube Premium prepaid plan, it is priced at Rs 139 for one month and Rs 399 for three months. 

As you can see, these prepaid plans are a little bit more expensive than the postpaid plans and currently available for Android and Web.

While the postpaid plans of YouTube Music is set at Rs 99/ month and  the YouTube Premium costs Rs 129/ month. 

As of now, both the services come with a one-month free subscription for new users. 

What Does YouTube Premium Offer?

As a matter of fact, the YouTube Premium catalogue incorporates everything Music Premium offers for example Offline Mixtape to download up to 100 songs, intelligent search powered by Google’s machine learning, and trending songs. 

In addition with access to the full slate of original shows and movies.

How It Is Different From Google Play Music?

When we talk about YouTube Music, it is similar, but restricted only to music on YouTube.

Obviously it is different from Google Play Music, the service that Google still hasn’t removed, the point here is that it is providing the same benefits as YouTube Music.

Who Can Use These Offer?

India is the only market which have this prepay services offered currently .

So If you reside in India and would like to go for the YouTube Premium or YouTube Music services then the company is offering to select the 1-month or 3-month options when signing up for either service to take advantage of YouTube’s new payment options. 

The only condition is that you will need a payment card that is local to India as well.

According to Google, the prepaid plans can be purchased with a local credit or debit card using Visa or Mastercard as YouTube Premium page reads “Many forms of payment are accepted.” 

Moreover, not like the postpaid accounts, YouTube’s prepaid users won’t be charged automatically upon expiration of their subscriptions. 

So far, prepaid plans are available only for new YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium users.
