Nothing’s enough and nothing’s impossible today. Your wildest dreams, at least constructive ones are all quite possible today. Thanks to technology and its exponential evolution, you can do anything and everything you want.
Speaking of, Google has been working on something, which changes the way we have been understanding our searches and search engines. You must all be aware of Google’s powerful search tool, Google Lens that help you read barcodes, QR codes, translate text on-the-fly, do optical character recognition (OCR) and even search for similar-looking products.
Well, taking it one notch further, it has been reported that the company could be combining this Lens with the ‘Edit & Share screenshots’ menu to allow searching with screenshots using Lens.
Smart Screenshots and How they Help you in Searches
Recently discovered in the code of the latest version of the Google app (10.61), a feature called ‘Smart Screenshots’ is known to combine the features of Google Lens and editing screenshots in a new toolbar.
Once you take a screenshot, the toolbar will display the regular edit, share and your favourite app to share the image. Additionally, the Lens icon appears in the toolbar to enable this feature.
As per the findings, it has been reported that one a screenshot is taken, Smart Screenshots will be able to easily call Lens to take advantage of Search whether it’s for OCR or finding visually-similar items.
However, the feature isn’t live yet. There’s no official mention anywhere and it’s also unclear how exactly it’s going to be implemented. Keeping all of these smart talks aside, please take a moment to understand the gravity of what has been achieved, if it is live at all.
The introduction of Smart Screenshots will continue to prove the potential and flexibility of Lens. We aren’t sure whether this is going to be a system-wide feature or only while using the could be combining this Lens with the ‘Edit & Share screenshots’ menu to allow searching with screenshots using Lens..
This changes the way searches have being performed until now.
