Recently, a meme was being circulated which invoked quite a few laughs – it said, ‘Ladies, if a guy pauses his videogame just to text you back, marry him!’

The meme clearly glorifies the addiction to video games and isn’t that wrong on so many levels? It is ok to play video games for a while as a pastime or as a bonding activity between friends, but one should take care that this recreation does not turn into an addiction.

PUBG and its Addiction

Things have taken a turn for the worse for a fitness trainer who suffered a mental breakdown after playing a video game long enough to turn it into addiction. What is more surprising is that the fitness trainer had downloaded the game and started playing only ten days back!

Within a short span of only ten days, this guy managed to get addicted to PUBG, suffered a mental imbalance and had to be hospitalized. Allegedly, after completing one of the rounds, the trainer started hitting himself with blows and was injured. the neurosurgeon, who is in charge of this case, said that “the patient is unstable and has partially lost his mental balance”. He can still recognize people but his mind is not yet conscious and is still under the influence of the game.

While this is the sixth case in Jammu, locals have appealed to the J&K Government to impose a ban on such ‘life-threatening’ games. But if not PUBG, it will be something else; after all, it is up to each individual to not get carried away and keep a check on reality while indulging.
