Chinese technology major Huawei is all set to surpass Apple to take the second spot in the global smartphone market. Huawei Technologies shipped more than 200 million smartphones last year, which is a 30 percent jump over the last year’s 153 million.

Its recent flagships like P20 and Mate series helped the company gain global attention.

The company is also launching Honor V20 as Honor View20 in India, one of the first 48MP camera phones with an in-display camera. The smartphone will be available exclusively via Amazon India.

Surpassing Apple To Take The Second Spot

Both P20 and the recent Mate 20 series have done extremely well in global markets, where both the smartphones were shipped for 16 million and 5 million times respectively. Both the smartphones helped the Chinese company to take second place globally, surpassing Apple.

Huawei has seen a major jump in sales in China, Europe, and Africa.

Huawei managed to get hold of 10.4 percent of the overall global smartphone market share in 2017. Samsung leads the table, Huawei remained ahead of Apple for all the quarters over the entire year.

Success Despite The Bans: Next Up Samsung?

Huawei currently is facing bans in some of the key global markets like Canada, Australia, and the United States. Many countries and some of the major telecom companies are opting out of Huawei communications equipment.

This will hurt the sales for Huawei in 2019 globally. The CFO’s arrest and multiple device bans in different countries haven’t affected Huawei much.

India remains an important market for Huawei. The company has done exceptionally well over the last few years with its own sub-brand Honor and it continues to dominate the mid-range and budget market.

The smartphone will run on the latest 7nm Kirin 980 chipset paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, further expandable via an external memory card.

Coming to the optics, the Honor View 20 will have a 48-megapixel using the Sony IMX 586 sensor featuring a f/1.8 aperture with 78-degree wide field of view. Up front, Honor V20 will have a 25-megapixel selfie shooter, placed inside the display.
