Google Bonito & Sargo: Mid-Range Pixel Smartphones

As per the reports pouring in, Google is actually working on a mid-range smartphone featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset. Codenamed Bonito, the speculated Google supposed mid-range Pixel smartphone will come with the latest Google software and mid-range hardware specifications.

Bonito device appeared on GFXBench with Snapdragon 710 processor. Google Bonito was already in the news, while Google Sargo has appeared on the internet for the first time.

Both the Pixel mid-range smartphones are said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 700 series platforms respectively.

Why Google?

Google is being speculated here because of the names. The company is known to give fish codenames to its products. The fish-themed code names for its smartphones dates back to the first Pixel phone. The previous Pixel codenames has been Marlin, Sailfish, Walleye and Taimen.

Bonito has been in the news, which is a fish, and incidentally Sargo is a type of fish as well.

The mid-range Pixel smartphones will take on bestelling smartphones from brands like Xiaomi, Realme and Honor. The company has not successful in selling well in price sensitive markets like India and Brazil.

Google Pixel 4 Smartphones?

There has been reports as well that the these codenames are of the next generation Pixel smartphones. But already there has been listings of Bonito with a Snapdragon 710 chipset. So, Binoto being a Pixel 4 is highly unlikely.

Sargo too is expected to come with a mid range processor.

Bonito and Sargo will come with augmented reality uses, so they can either be a smartphone or tablet or be the Google Chromebook.

While nothing has been confirmed by Google, we need to wait till something concrete comes in. The codenames hint at Google’s fish-related smartphones, so if not Pixel 4 smartphones, we expect a new series from the Android maker.
