Asus Zenfone 5Z vs OnePlus 6 vs Xiaomi Mi 8 vs Honor 10 – Who Will Win?

After launching its budget premium handset Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 this summer, Asus has big plans to rise again in India. The Taiwanise company has now launched the much-awaited flagship Zenfone 5Z at a disruptive price. The Zenfone 5Z has been pitched against premium bestsellers like OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 at a very competitive price, which starts at Rs 29,999.

Asus Zenfone 5Z is going to be the cheapest Snapdragon 845 smartphone currently available in the Indian market.

Xiaomi Mi 8 on the other hand is expected to launch in the country by the end of July or early August. Asus Zenfone 5Z will be exclusive to Flipkart, and the flagship smartphone will come with top of the line features like a bezel-less 19:9 notched display, SD 845 chipset, dual cameras and more.

Asus Zenfone 5Z will face direct competition against the current bestseller OnePlus 6 in the country. Apart from OnePlus 6, the smartphone will also face challenge from Honor 10 and upcoming Mi 8.

Built & Design

All the smartphones will come with a glass body in the out. All the four smartphones are well-built and has a unibody finish. In spite of a glass body, none of the smartphones support wireless charging.

Even with the large display, all the smartphones can be easily handled by one-hand.

Verdict – Draw

Display

All the smartphones come with full-screen displays in an 19:9 aspect ratio with a notch on top. OnePlus 6 has a 6.28 inch full HD+ AMOLED display, whereas Honor 10 has a 5.84 inch Full HD+ LCD display.

Xiaomi Mi 8 has a 6.21 inch Full HD+ display and Asus Zenfone 5Z comes with a 6.2 inch Full HD+ display.

Verdict – OnePlus 6, as it has an added advantage with its AMOLED display and smaller notch

Hardware

Again, all the smartphones come with the current best flagship chipset in the Android smartphone industry, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 except for Honor 10. All the three smartphones, OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi 8 and Asus Zenfone 5X come with Snapdragon 845 coupled with Adreno 630 and upto 6GB and 8GB of RAM (Mi 8 has only 6GB of RAM).

Only Honor 10 has a single 6GB RAM variant and it comes with Huawei’s in-house octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI.

Software

OnePlus runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with OxygenOS on top. Honor 10 runs EMUI 8.1 on top of Android Oreo 8.1 and Xiaomi Mi 8 runs Android Oreo 8.1 with the newly launched MIUI 10 on top.

Asus Zenfone 5Z will run stock Android with Oreo and no other extra skin on top.

Storage

OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi 8 and Asus Zenfone 5X, all the three smartphones offer multiple storage options upto 256GB. All the three smartphones come three storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Whereas, Honor 10 only comes with a single storage variant of 128GB storage.

Rear Camera

OnePlus 6 has a 16 megapixel primary camera coupled 20 megapixel secondary camera with 2X lossless optical zoom functionality and OIS and EIS. Honor 10 has AI supported dual rear cameras with a 16 megapixel color sensor coupled with a 24 megapixel secondary monochrome sensor for low-light conditions.

Mi 8 also has an AI backed rear dual camera system comprising of a 12MP wide-angle lens coupled with a 12MP telephoto lens. Asus Zenfone 5Z too has an AI backed a 12 megapixel Sony IMX 363 sensor coupled with an 8 megapixel secondary sensor with dual pixel PDAF and OIS.

Front Camera

OnePlus 6 has a 16 megapixel front camera camera for selfies and video calling. Honor 10 and Mi 8 has a AI powered 24 megapixel and 20 megapixel front shooters respectively. Up front, Asus Zenfone 5Z has a 8MP shooter.

Connectivity

All the four smartphones come with dual SIM connectivity and supports all major 4G LTE bands with VoLTE connectivity. All of them has all the required sensors with added connectivity sensors like Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

OnePlus 6 and Asus Zenfone 5Z comes with a 3,300mAh battery. OnePlus 6 supports Dash Charge for fast charging and Zenfone 5Z supports Quick Charge 3.0 support. Honor 10 and Mi 8 come with a slightly larger 3,400mAh battery, where Honor 10 supports fast charging.

OnePlus 6 retails for Rs 34,999 for the base variant and Rs 39,999 for the higher storage model. OnePlus 6 is exclusively available via Amazon and OnePlus stores. Honor 10 costs Rs 32,999 and is available exclusively via Flipkart.

Asus Zenfone 5Z has been launched in India today starting at Rs 29,999, to be available via Flipkart exclusively from July 9.

Xiaomi Mi 8 will launch in India this month or early August, and is expected to start from Rs 28,999.
