BSNL Unleashes Broadband War

State-run BSNL has unleashed a new broadband tariff war in India, and Jio will have to consider them as their major competitor now.

The new plans announced by BSNL will now give 45 GB data per month, for Rs 99!

Meanwhile, Jio, which is about to launch their broadband services has received a major setback, as TRAI’s official app reports a dip in their speed.

BSNL Slashes Prices: Its A Broadband War!

Considering Jio FTTH broadband plans are about to be launched, BSNL has decided to kickstart a new round of broadband tariff war.

4 new non-FTTH broadband plans have been launched by BSNL, which will give users data ranging from 45 GB to 600 GB!

Termed as BBG ULD Combo broadband plans, some of these plans have voice combo-inbuilt, which makes them attractive to the end user.

While Rs 99 plan will 45 GB per month, their highest plan under this segment is Rs 399, which will give 600 GB of data per month.

Under non-FTTH broadband plans, these are no doubt the cheapest as of now, if we consider the bundled voice as well.

Interestingly, all these new broadband plans will give 20 Mbps speed, and after the allocated GBs are consumed, the speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps, which is again decent speed.

Here are the details:

  1. Rs 99: 1.5 GB per day with 20 Mbps speed (1Mbps speed post FUP)
  2. Rs 199: 5 GB per day with 20 Mbps speed (1Mbps speed post FUP)
  3. Rs 299: 300 GB per day with 20 Mbps speed up to 10 GB per day (1Mbps speed post FUP)
  4. Rs 399: 600 GB per day with 20 Mbps speed up to 20 GB per day (1Mbps after that)

Jio’s Speed Continues To Dip!

Meanwhile, Jio has some homework to do, as their 4G speed continues to dip, as per TRAI’s latest ranking of 4G speed.

Jio’s competitor Airtel has more or less maintained their speed while Idea and Vodafone too are showing drastic improvement.

As per latest numbers shared by TRAI, Jio users were getting 14.7Mbps speed in the month of April, which is 33% less than what they experienced in March.

14.7 Mbps speed is a far cry from their peak speed which touched 25 Mbps in December.

Airtel was consistent at 9.2 Mbps, followed by Idea at 7.4 Mbps and Vodafone at 7.1 Mbps.
