Airtel 4G Launched In Kolkata; Vodafone Plans 4G On Moon By 2019!

India’s largest telecom operator Airtel has finally launched their much awaited 4G VoLTE services in Kolkata. We will soon share how you can activate the services.

Meanwhile, UK-based Vodafone has declared that they will soon launch 4G services on the Moon; even as few researchers have warned that 4G network has several loopholes related to security and safety.

Airtel 4G Is Now Live In Kolkata!

Sameer Anjaria, CEO, West Bengal & Odisha, Bharti Airtel has announced the successful launch of Airtel’s 4G VoLTE services in Kolkata.

As per them, more than 100 smartphones are right now supporting Airtel’s VoLTE network.

Vodafone: We Will Launch 4G On Moon!

Meanwhile, UK based world’s 2nd largest telecom operator Vodafone has declared that by 2019, they will roll out the 4G network on the Moon.

Last month, a Vodafone executive had said in Spain:

“The moon will get 4G coverage next year, 50 years after the first NASA astronauts walked on its surface. Vodafone plans to create the first 4G network on the moon to support a mission by PTScientists. We have target to land in 2019 on Moon.”

As per reports, Nokia will assist them with technological infrastructure.

Closer home, Vodafone has already launched 4G VoLTE services in Haryana and aims to roll out their 4G in Tamil Nadu very soon.

Robert Bohme, CEO and Founder of PTScientists said that this will be first privately funded moon exploration, and they aim to achieve this mission in under $50 million.

In a related news, researchers from Purdue University and the University of Iowa have discovered that 4G networks across the globe have several loopholes, which can allow hackers to reach messages, and divert calls, without any knowledge of the user.

As per University of Iowa Assistant Professor Omar Chowdhury, such loopholes allow the hacker to locate the exact address of the user, inject malwares, and more.
