OnePlus 6 Launching In June 2018

It’s less than two months since OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5T, and they are already on track to launch their next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6 in June 2018. The Chinese smartphone brand has grown up to be a major global brand since their inception in 2014.

Late last year, when the purported list of smartphones arriving with Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset Snapdragon 845 on board came out, it had the OnePlus 6 on the list.

OnePlus 6 Details

Not much is known, other than the flagship processor from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 845. Recently Vivo, which is owned by BBK Electronics, who also own OnePlus, has developed an in-display fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus 6 might include this tech when it releases.

OnePlus 6 is also rumoured to feature a more secure version of their “Face Unlock” technology which had debuted with the OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 6 is expected to adopt a similar hardware approach to what Apple uses for iPhone X, which makes the use of an infrared 3D camera module. Moreover, the OnePlus 6 might even keep the top bezel to house the sensors.

The OnePlus 6 will come with the same 18:9 display first featured on the OnePlus 5T, but this time OnePlus should be adding some more features. Waterproofing is also expected along with wireless charging.

The OnePlus Factor

OnePlus has a foolproof plan ready for 2018. Both, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, worked well in the market. OnePlus 5T was one of the favourite smartphones of 2017, thanks to its killer combination of top-notch features and specifications in a reasonably priced package.

The OnePlus 6 too is expected to come with some top of the line features at a reasonable price which is expected to be somewhere around Rs. 40,000/- in India.

Targeting The US Market

Apart from the 2018 OnePlus smartphone, the company is in talks with some US carriers this year, which would possibly open the door to sell their current smartphones through carriers like AT&T and Verizon.

In the US, 85% to 90% of the customers buy their smartphones on a contractual basis. Thus, OnePlus is losing a huge chunk of revenue and can potentially sell millions of devices with carrier partnership, if provided the right opportunity and right timing.

OnePlus 6 – Expected Features

Until now, only Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor is the only confirmed specification of the OnePlus 6. Following features are not confirmed, but are expected to be included.

  • Edge-to-edge 18:9 bezel-less, all screen display
  • In-display fingerprint scanner
  • Waterproofing
  • Wireless Charging Support

Word-of-mouth has been a crucial key to their growth as a brand in their four-year existence. OnePlus has recently taken the mainstream smartphone market by storm and OnePlus 6 is expected to expand that even further!
