Four Upcoming SUVs By Maruti Suzuki

Maruti YGF Mid-Size SUV

There has been a lot of discussion about this SUV as it is in a segment targeted by almost every car manufacturer in India currently. This car model is internally codenamed YGF, and is expected to be launched in the festive season this year. Ths SUV is being spearheaded by Maruti in association with Toyota under their global alliance. YFG is supposedly going to be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform.

Maruti Baleno Cross

A notable fact is that Maruti is also developing a second subcompact crossover. This car model is going to be based on the new Heartect platform supporting the new Baleno. It seems like this SUV is going to be a Coupe-style crossover and will have similar specifications as the premium hatch. Its internal codename is YTB, this Coupe-style crossover is expected to be revealed sometime in 2023.

Maruti Jimny

A long-wheelbase 5-door derivative of the Jimny off-roader is in the works and could arrive before the end of 2022. It will be based on the Sierra, have a 300mm longer wheelbase, and compete against Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. Coming in at 3.8 metres in length, it will likely get a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine capable of producing 103bhp of power and 138Nm of torque.  Its fuel efficiency could see an improvement with a mild hybrid system.
