1.5 Lakh Kia Sonet Units Sold In Less Than 2 Years! Petrol Variants More Popular Than Diesel Variants

In less than two years after its launch, Kia has reported selling more over 1.5 lakh Sonet crossovers.

Kia Sells More Than 1.5 Lakh Sonet models

In September 2020, the Kia Sonet was introduced. The vehicle contributes more than 32% of Kia’s overall sales and is estimated to have a market share of about 15% in the compact SUV market.

The company has claimed that 25% of Sonet purchasers selected the iMT variations and 22% selected the automatic transmission. While diesel variants made up 41% of all Sonet sales, only 26% of customers preferred the top variants.

Glacier White Pearl and Aurora Black Pearl are the Sonet’s two most preferred colours, according to Kia. 44 percent of all dispatches are made up of them.

The Kia Sonet GT 1.0-litre turbo-petrol model churns out 120PS of power and 172 Nm of maximum torque. The model has a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) as well as 7-speed DCT options. But, when the CNG variant is launched it is going to have some decrease in power. 

The Kia Sonet is available in a 1.2- litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine as well. The 1.2- litre petrol engine generated 83PS power and 115 Nm torque.

Kia To Launch CNG Version Of Kia Sonet

We had recently reported that Kia is going to launch the CNG version of its popular SUV Kia Sonet. The Kia Sonet CNG was spotted recently while it was being tested in India and the public is quite excited about the launch of the car. 

If the Kia Sonet CNG is released in the Indian market, it will be the first compact SUV to have a CNG version. The launch of the CNG variant to the existing models of Sonet will mean that the users will have three variants. The three variants are petrol, diesel, and CNG.

The Kia Sonet CNG model that had been spotted during the test was top-spec GT Line trim. This means that the CNG version of the car has been based on the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol model. Another sign that confirms that the test car was a CNG variant was that it had a CNG sticker on the rear windscreen.
