Education Minister Launches 1 Lakh Internship Opportunities

Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education has shared a vision of providing internship opportunities to every youth of the country.

He states that by 2047, as the country is working towards a successful roadmap, on completion of one century to India’s independence, the education ministry will work towards creating 100 million internship opportunities over the next 2-3 years, a move too audacious.

His tweet reads, “As we prepare the roadmap for India @ 2047, the year India will complete 100 years of independence, we must work together and aim to provide 100 million internship opportunities in the next 2-3 years for boosting employability of youth and building a more productive economy.”

The emphasis of NEP 2020 lies on linking multiple industries with academic institutions across the country so that India could be made ‘future-ready’, he tweets.

A move like preparing for  over 1 lakh internship opportunities is considered as a ‘welcome beginning’ by the education minister.

However, Pradhan adds that at the same time, the academic institutions & industry in the country should also work towards providing internship opportunities to all.

Not limited to education institutions, Pradhan has directed different industry bodies in the country too to diversify their internship opportunities.

“I am happy that the industry today is recognising the need for apprenticeship, skilling and re-skilling. I also encourage the companies present here and the industry to diversify internship opportunities, including in humanities and new emerging technologies,” the Minister tweeted, cites an ANI source.
