Wait For 18 Months For This SUV: Highest Waiting Period For SUVs In India (March, 2022)
If you take a stroll any time of the day(of course with your mask on) and look; you’ll see that 7 out of 10 cars on the road are sub-compact SUVs. Indians have been going bonkers since the launch of SUVs in India.
The demand of SUV continues to grow in our country. However, recently the waiting period for some of the SUVs has increased substantially. It is due to the semiconductor chip crisis that is going on the country.
Mahindra XUV700 : 18 Months Waiting Period
Currently, Mahindra XUV700 has the highest waiting period of all cars on sale in India. For select variants of Mahindra Thar, the waiting period is almost as much as a year. Buyers could have to wait as high as 18 months for the select variants. The waiting time for the base variant of Hyundai Creta is around ten months. While the waiting time for other variants is upto 5 months.
One of the top-selling cars in the Indian market recently, Tata Punch, has a waiting period of between four to seven months.
The KIA Sonet and Seltos, depending on the variant selected, have a waiting period of upto 6 months, which is a fairly high waiting period. For the ICE (petrol and diesel) version of Tata Nexon, the waiting period goes up to five months. For the electric version (Nexon EV), the waiting period is three months. The bestselling large SUV, Toyota Fortuner has a waiting period of up to four months for select variants. Depending on the selected variant, MG Astor also has a fairly high waiting period of four months.
The Magnite SUV is the product that had changed Nissan’s fortune in India for the better. The little crossover also demands a wait of up to four months between booking and taking delivery, depending on the stock availability.
