Breaking Own Records

Just last month it sold 40,777 units of passenger vehicles in India, its highest monthly sales of all time.

This is a 51% sales growth compared to January 2021 when it had sold 26,978 units.

It also recorded the highest monthly production at its Ranjangaon plant in Pune since March 200.

Best Selling Models

Much of its sales have been driven by its SUV models which accounted for 28,108 units last month.

Its Nexon compact SUV and Punch sub-compact SUV both crossed 10,000 units apiece in January.

Its premium Harrier and Safari also managed impressive sales with a combined performance of close to 8,000 units.

EV Market Leader

The automaker is now the market leader for EVs in India, having achieved the feat with just the Nexon EV.

It accounted for a massive 70% of all electric cars sold, having sold the most EVs in a month ever at 2,892 units.

What helped Tata was its first mover advantage and its EV offerings being the two most affordable passenger EVs on sale right now.

It will continue its momentum with an aggressive 10-EV plan for the next five years.

CNG Cars Perform Well

It launched the Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG last month which were received well.

It already managed to account for 42% of all Tiago and Tigor model sales.

Both have together sold over 3,000 units.

Its success can be owed to its better than expected strong driving characteristics compared to their petrol counterparts.

It also has an edge over its rivals since it’s offered in a number of different variants and price points instead of just a single low-spec model.
