Whatsapp Chat Transfer From Android To iPhone Is Now Possible For Billions Of Users!
WhatsApp is testing a feature which would allow users to migrate chats from their Android device to an iPhone.
In Beta Testing
WABetaInfo reports that an “import chat history” feature is in the works with which Android users can move their chats to an iPhone.
It is not available to everyone at the moment, since it was spotted in development in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS v22.2.74.
The process might be a little convoluted.
Both devices will have to have the app installed and the migration will likely require a cable or a private Wi-Fi connection.
Cable connection here refers to physically connecting the Android phones with an iOS device using a USB Type-C-to-Lightning cable to move chat history.
To make the migration possible, WhatsApp will rely on Apple’s Move to iOS app which users will have to install on their Android device.
The process is easier in other messaging apps which simply store and sync user data using Google Drive, iCloud or their own cloud service.
Pairs Of Devices With Chat Migration Feature
The chat transfer feature from iOS to Samsung devices and Google Pixel has been available since last October.
Here, the migration works one way – from an iPhone to a Samsung via cable and using Samsung’s SmartSwitch app.
Chats can also be migrated from iOS to devices based on Android 12 out-of-the-box.
Now, chat history migration between Android and iOS devices will also become reality.
Voice Note Playing In The Background
Another handy feature in the works is a new global voice note player on iOS beta.
This would let users listen to a voice message even when they switch to a different chat.
The voice note will not be dismissed when they swipe back or open a different chat.
It is available for some iOS beta testers, including WhatsApp Business beta.
