Lockdown Returns: These Shops Will Be Closed, Night Curfew Imposed In Maharashtra


The rules are set to take effect from January 10.

The Maharashtra government has imposed new restrictions exercising its powers under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Movement Of People

A night curfew will be in place barring movement of people in groups of 5 or more from 5 am to 11 pm.

There will be absolutely no movement from 11 pm to 5 am except for essential purposes.

Private Offices

Office management has been advised to operate at 50% attendance.

Only fully vaccinated employees will be allowed to attend office physically.

Public Gatherings

For marriages, the maximum people that can attend has been limited to 50.

The maximum attendance for funerals and last rites is 20.

In case of social, religious, cultural or political gatherings, the maximum people present is limited to 50.

Schools And Colleges

They are to remain closed till 15th February.

Exceptions:

  • Activities required for 10th and 12th standard students.
  • Administrative activities to be undertaken by teachers other than classroom teachings

Public Settings

Swimming pools, gyms, spas, wellness centres are to remain closed.

Shopping malls, market complexes will operate at 50% capacity with restricted entry. 

They are to be closed from 10 pm-8 am every day.

Hair cutting salons shall operate at 50% capacity.

They will be closed from 10 pm to 7 am every day.

Restaurants 

They are allowed to operate at 50% capacity.

Only fully vaccinated people will be allowed.

They will be closed from 10 pm-8 am but home delivery is allowed on all days.

Cinemas

They must operate at 50% capacity.

Only fully vaccinated people will be allowed.

They will be closed from 10 pm-8 am on all days.

Domestic Travel

Passengers must be either double vaccinated or have a negative RT-PCR test report valid from upto 72 hours of the time of arrival into the state.

The rules apply to air, train and road passengers.

Apart from passengers, drivers, cleaners and other support staff that may be traveling must also comply.

Public Transport

They will operate as per regular timings but only fully vaccinated people may avail them.
