This State Announces Free Bus Travel For All Citizens Aged Above 75 Years!
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced that senior citizens above the age of 75 can travel free-of-cost on the state-run buses or ST buses from Aug 27 onwards.
The announcement was made as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating the country’s 75th year of independence.

Refund
Those eligible for this free travel scheme will also get a fare refund if they had booked their tickets before August 26.
How to avail
Free travel on ST buses can be availed by displaying identity documents for a proof of age – like Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, voter’s card etc.
Limitations
The facility is not available on MSRTC’s city buses.
It is also only available for journeys within the state limits.
Rebate
Those between the age of 65 and 75 will get a 50 per cent rebate on ticket fares on select types of bus services operated by the MSRTC.
MSRTC has a fleet of more than 16,000 buses and used to ferry almost 65 lakh passengers per day before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
New AC buses to start soon
Recently it introduced nearly 100 new air-conditioned and pollution-free electric buses on the Mumbai-Pune route.
They will be operational by year-end.
