About 11 unicorn companies were created in 2020, which rose to 43 in 2021, a surge of 282%. The unicorn rally is expected to continue in 2022 too with market experts estimating about 150 startups to join the Indian unicorn club in 2022.
One week in April 2021 witnessed six unicorn creations.
In startup terms, a unicorn is a company valued at or over $1 billion.
By 2025, the Indian startup ecosystem is set to witness three-fold growth in valuation and a substantial rise in the number of Unicorns, which currently stands at 59, states a report by venture capital fund 3one4 Capital.
The report further added that by 2025, the number of startups in the country will jump to 1,00,000 from 55,000 at present.
