India’s Minister of Communication, Ashwini Vaishnaw, is sure that India would be able to deploy 6G technology!
On Tuesday, India’s Minister of Communication said that India is working on 6G technology intending to launch it by the end of 2023 or early 2024.
6G Technology In India
The scientists and engineers working on the technology have been awarded the necessary approvals, according to Vaishnaw. During a webinar hosted by the Financial Times and The New Indian Express, this was stated.
“6G development has already started. That will be seen somewhere in the time frame 2024 or 2023-end. That is the direction in which we are going. We will have designed in India telecom software for running the networks, manufactured in India telecom equipment, served in India telecom networks which can go global,” he said.
The spectrum auctions for 5G will not take place any time soon as telecom companies have requested an extension of the spectrum auctions. The TRAI has given telecoms an extension for 5G trials, and the deadline has been pushed back to March 31, 2022.
Vasishnaw stated that 5G spectrum auctions will most likely take place in the first part of 2022 and that homegrown 5G technology is also being developed.
The auctions for the 5G spectrum are also expected to take place in the second quarter of the calendar year 2022, according to the minister.
“A reference has been made to TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) for 5G spectrum auctions. They have already started the consultation process. The process should end somewhere in the February-March time frame in the coming year. Then the auction process will be in Q2 of the calendar year 2022,” he said.
