Coal Scarcity In The country!
Orders For 24X7 Staff Operations
According to an IE article, the principal chief operations managers of all Indian Railways zones have been given orders to staff operations control rooms 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
They are advised to generate hourly bulletins for the ministry and general managers.
According to sources cited in the study, even if demand hits 500 rakes per day, the national transporter is equipped to handle it comfortably. Officials say a big number of rakes of coal are coming from coal fields in the country’s eastern region, including places served by the East Central Railway zone.
No Constraints On Carrying Capacity
The process of loading and unloading and the movement of empty rakes is closely monitored as it has become an emergency right now.
The Railway Ministry told the Power and Coal Ministries in a meeting that carrying capacity was not a constraint for Indian Railways!
They are ready to transfer as much coal to power plants as needed, according to the report. Also, the senior ministry official stated that the ministry is fully prepared to handle the demand for coal transportation to power plants.
The scarcity demands quick action though the situation will not return to normal in a day. According to the sources by November the power demand will normally drop.
