Indian Railways, the largest employer in the country, and the bloodline of the developing Indian Economy has decided to bring new rules for booking tickets online. The new rules would apply to people who have not used the service for a long time. There won’t be any change for frequent travelers of trains who have used the service during the pandemic.

These results will apply to people who wish to buy online railway tickets through the portal of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). According to the new advertisement published by the organization, people booking tickets after a long period will have to undergo a verification process first, only then they will be allowed to book the tickets. IRCTC has made sure that the process is not at all cumbersome and can be completed within 50-60 seconds only.

How to verify your details

After logging into the portal, a verification window will pop up. Here, we are expected to enter the already registered email and mobile number. In this window, there is an option of edit is on the left side while the verification button is on the right side. You can also change the details, including email and phone number by selecting the edit option.

If and when you are satisfied with the details, click on the verification option. An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your given phone number. After entering the OTP, the mobile number will get verified. A similar process will be followed for the verification of the email id.

How to book tickets online

Indian Railways sells tickets online through the portal of the IRCTC.

Passengers of the railway service are required to create a login id and password on the portal. After providing the details, a login ID and password can be created.
