Big Relief For Indian Railway Passengers: Bedrolls Facility Restarts From Today!

On Thursday, the Railways issued orders to resume the service of providing linen, blankets and curtains inside trains. This comes as a major relief as the provision that was suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Railway board, in an order issued to general managers of all railway zones, said the supply of these items will resume with immediate effect.

What These Items Will Include?

It shall include pillows, blankets, sheets and towels in a sealed cover.

Even other services like providing meals and most of its concessions on tickets were suspended by the national transporter. It has now reintroduced the majority of the facilities.

However, the concessions on tickets for passengers remain suspended.

Bedrolls Facility Were Stopped Due to Covid

In May, 2020 the Railways had announced that it would not provide blankets and curtains in air-conditioned coaches of all trains, as a move to curb the spread of COVID-19. Hence, as a result, passengers were asked to bring their own blankets on long journeys.

The minimum temperature has been instructed to be set at 24-25 degrees Celsius.

However, the Railways had made arrangements to provide blankets to passengers on demand and some bedsheets were kept for exigencies.
