Rs 5000 For Each Mumbai Local Passenger For Not Allowing To Board Train? Opposition Party Demands Justice

As we all know, the public of Mumbai is unable to travel to their workplaces through the local trains, as it isn’t yet permitted by the Uddhav Thackeray-led state government.

The Maharashtra unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has asked the government to allow travel by local trains or provide Rs. 5000 as allowance.

Opposition Party Calls For Local Trains To Resume Operation; Or Else Pay Rs. 5000

The Maharashtra unit of the opposition party, BJP, has demanded that the government should open up traveling by local trains for the public or provide them with allowance every month.

As per state BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye, “Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray should allow people of all categories to travel in local trains or provide Rs 5,000 allowance every month to each individual.” 

Traveling long distances via any other mode of transport in Mumbai and suburbs definitely burns a hole in the pocket and takes up a lot of time as well. 

Party Will Protest If Vaccinated People Not Allowed To Travel

BJP leader Pravin Darekar had also assured the public that the party will launch protests if the state government doesn’t allow vaccinated people to travel by locals. 

At the beginning of June, as per the state cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwar, the Mumbai Local Trains will not be resuming their operations at least for the next 15 days. This will be a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

He also says that the passengers will not be maintaining social distancing protocol and hence the trains will continue to operate only for people who are employed in essential services for the time being.

We reported to you that the associations of suburban train commuters asking the government to resume the operations of the Mumbai locals as soon as possible. The Mumbai locals have not been operating since April 15, when the second lockdown started. 

The passenger associations also met up with the officials of the Central Railway recently, and have asked for an increase in the safety measures for women passengers. They also asked the railway authorities to resume operations of the local trains for the general public.
