Maruti Suzuki Gearing Up For The Launch Of Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Production Starts In Gujarat

Multiple pre-launch procedures are in the works by Maruti Suzuki for the launch of the Jimny. 

In an interview, Shashank Srivastava, executive director, sales and marketing, Maruti Suzuki India has confirmed the news that the procedure for the launch of the Jimny in the Indian automobile market has already begun. 

Srivastava has also confirmed that the marketing and strategy for the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny are already in the works.

There has been no official management by Maruti Suzuki about the launch of the Jimny in the Indian automobile market; however, the manufacturer confirmed the plans to launch the SUV in the Indian market during an investor’s meet.

As per reports, the plant of Suzuki in Gujarat is already manufacturing the Jimny; however, that is only for the export markets.

The car was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Apparently, the company is doing research in order to fix the price of the Jimny.

MSIL to Launch Both Three And Five Door Jimny 

MSIL, the largest car seller in the Indian market will be launching the standard version of the Jimny that is already being manufactured in India. While the five door version is also set to be launched, there is news that Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch both the three and five-door variants of Germany from the start.

Interestingly, Mahindra is also working on the five-door version of the Thar, which will compete with MSIL’s Jimny.

As we all know, Maruti Suzuki recently announced their decision to phase out diesel cars. First, it was Maruti Suzuki, followed by Mahindra, andTata Motors as well. The Government announcing the new emission norms, Bharat Stage (BS) VI emission norms, is the primary reason behind these companies quitting on diesel engine cars.

Therefore, the Jimny will also be launched only in the petrol engine options. As per reports, the Jimny will come with a 1.5-liter K15B engine similar to many of the Maruti Suzuki models in India. It also generates about 102 PS at the most. 

This is the same engine that also powers Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, and Ertiga in India. The engine will reportedly be paired with a manual as well as a 4-speed automatic transmission
