MSIL, the largest car seller in the Indian market will be launching the standard version of the Jimny that is already being manufactured in India. As we all know, Maruti Suzuki recently announced their decision to phase out diesel cars. First, it was Maruti Suzuki, followed by Mahindra, andTata Motors as well. The Government announcing the new emission norms, Bharat Stage (BS) VI emission norms, is the primary reason behind these companies quitting on diesel engine cars.

Therefore, the Jimny will also be launched only in the petrol engine options. As per reports, the Jimny will come with a 1.5-liter K15B engine similar to many of the Maruti Suzuki models in India. It also generates about 102 PS at the most.

This is the same engine that also powers Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, and Ertiga in India. The engine will reportedly be paired with a manual as well as a 4-speed automatic transmission
