Wipro Will Hire 1300 Staff In London, Invest Rs 160 Crore For New R&D Centre
With the increasing dominance of new-age digital skills in the information technology segment, companies all around the globe are actively hiring individuals meeting the set demand.
In India, the demand for skilled IT talent has outnumbered the supply, as a result of which, Indian IT giants are more than willing to offer over 50-70% joining hikes to candidates meeting the requirements.

In the wake of these events, the Bengaluru-based IT services provider, Wipro has announced that it will invest £16 million (over Rs 160 cr) over the upcoming four years to set up a 20,000 sq. ft. innovation centre in London.
In addition to creating more jobs in the UK, the investment will deepen Wipro’s foundation in the region.
Wipro’s Mammoth Investment in the UK Market
According to the press statement on Tuesday, Indian IT giant Wipro will invest over Rs 160 crore for setting up a 20,000 sq ft innovation centre in Holborn, London, which will serve as the company’s flagship centre in the UK.
The centre will offer technology expertise to companies in the UK and outside.
“It will be integral to providing advanced digital, cyber security, and cloud expertise to both established and upcoming enterprises, taking the lead on digital transformation in one of Europe’s biggest technology markets”, said Wipro in its statement.
According to Pierre Bruno, CEO – Europe, Wipro, the innovation centre will enable the company to develop solutions for the future, which will include “galvanizing the adoption of new skills and technologies by companies to innovate and re-imagine their products and services”.
Wipro’s Recent Acquisition Announcement to Add 1300 Employees
Wipro boasts a powerful presence in the UK, with 10 offices and over 4,000 employees in the region.
This year, the IT giant marks its 25 years in the UK, where it has hired over 500 new employees in the last 12 months, which will only increase with the announcement of the innovation centre.
Wipro’s ‘innovation centre’ investment announcement comes after its recent (announcement of) acquisition of UK-based Capco for $1.45 billion.
The acquisition will add 1,300 employees in the UK and will make Wipro one of the largest end-to-end IT service providers to the banking and financial services industry, mentions Livemint.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “Trade and investment between the UK and India is creating good jobs and sustaining livelihoods in both of our countries. I’m very pleased that Wipro has decided to join the legions of Indian companies investing in the UK, boosting our technology sector and driving economic growth.”
