Google Saved Rs 7500 Crore Due To Work From Home Policy? Here’s The Truth!
Thanks to the pandemic induced work from home protocols Google has saved $268 million in Q1 2021.
The yearly figure takes this number to over $1 billion.
Savings were made on advertisements, promotional costs, and travel and entertainment spending. Further savings were made on campaigns along with a shift to virtual formats for events.
Significantly travel and entertainment costs decreased by $371 million last year.
Sources Of Savings
In a typical year in the office Google spends a lot in treating its employees to a wide variety of periks.
Spas, catering, corporate retreats are just to name a few which Google has now turned into avenues for savings now that none of those have to be spent on for employees who are now working from home.
As WFH Ends, So Do Savings
Google could stop enjoying such savings as it opens its doors to its employees as they return to physical offices once again.
As the pandemic stabilises in the US and vaccine drives continue, Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat has spoken of her firm’s plans to initiate a hybrid work model.
According to this model employees will enjoy the option of alternately working from home and the office along with a wider radius of personal space inside offices.
