The yearly figure takes this number to over $1 billion. 

Savings were made on advertisements, promotional costs, and travel and entertainment spending. Further savings were made on campaigns along with a shift to virtual formats for events. 

Significantly travel and entertainment costs decreased by $371 million last year.

Spas, catering, corporate retreats are just to name a few which Google has now turned into avenues for savings now that none of those have to be spent on for employees who are now working from home.

Google could stop enjoying such savings as it opens its doors to its employees as they return to physical offices once again.

As the pandemic stabilises in the US and vaccine drives continue, Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat has spoken of her firm’s plans to initiate a hybrid work model

According to this model employees will enjoy the option of alternately working from home and the office along with a wider radius of personal space inside offices.
