The Bengaluru-based e-commerce giant Flipkart has partnered with the Indian conglomerate Adani Group to strengthen its logistics and supply chain, thereby providing a smoother and faster service experience for its growing subscriber base.

A subsidiary of the Adani Group, Adani Logistics Limited will build logistics and data centres/hubs initially in Mumbai, which will meet Flipkart’s growing demand for e-commerce in Western India, along with creating huge employment options.

The Adani Group is planning to attract more international clients to its logistics and data centre business, through this deal with Flipart.

Here are all the details related to this partnership deal between the two industry giants.

New Centre in Mumbai to Create 2000+ Jobs

In order to meet the increasing demand for e-commerce products in Western India, Adani Logistics will construct a fulfilment centre or warehouse of 534,000 sq ft, at its upcoming logistics hub in Mumbai and will lease it to Flipkart.

This warehouse will support the market access of several thousand sellers and MSMEs in the Western region, as stated by sources.

It is expected that this fulfilment centre in Mumbai will be completed and into operation by the third quarter of 2022, with a capacity of housing 10 million units of sellers’ inventory at any point.

Besides strengthening Flipkart’s supply chain infrastructure, the facility created in Mumbai will also produce nearly 2,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs, state the chairman and founder of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani.

“I am delighted to see two of India’s fastest-growing businesses come together to help build some of the most critical as well as state-of-the-art infrastructure that our nation needs. This is what Atmanirbharta should be all about,” said Karan Adani, chief executive officer of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone.

Flipkart to Develop its 3rd Data Centre

The partnership between Flipkart and Adani Group also includes Flipkart developing its third data centre at the AdaniConnecX (in Chennai), which is a newly-formed joint venture between  Adani and US data center firm EdgeConneX.

The development of this data centre in Chennai will be a part of Flipkart’s cloud deployments in the country.

The data centre has been designed to meet the highest standards in reliability, security, and sustainability, which will capitalise on the Adani Group’s capability as the largest solar player in the country to generate and source green power, states Yourstory.

Karan Adani, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) said, “This broad-ranging partnership across our logistics and data centre businesses is a unique business model, and we see this as a great opportunity to serve Flipkart’s physical as well as digital infrastructure needs…. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership as we focus on learning from each other as well as leveraging our mutual strengths to prioritise consumers and development of India’s MSME ecosystem.”
