Tesla’s Model 3 Will Be Sold In India By June, 2021?

Earlier, Tesla founder Elon Musk had confirmed their launch in India by 2021, when he tweeted, “Next year for sure,”, when asked on their plans about India expansion.

As we have reported, Tesla is planning to launch and sell their cheapest and basic electric car: Model 3, which can be priced in India at around Rs 55-60 lakh.

In 2016, Tesla had asked for $1000 deposit from buyers in India, but later shelved the plans. In 2017, Elon Musk blamed the FDI policies in India, for the delay, when he had said, “Maybe I’m misinformed, but I was told that 30% of parts must be locally sourced and the supply doesn’t yet exist in India to support that,”

Besides Tesla, other electric car companies too are trying to create a market in India, and the recent Tata Nexon EV is a moderate success as well.

Nexon has been India’s #1 electric car since its launch.

Maruti, Hyundai and other automobile companies too are planning to launch new and cheaper electric cars in India.
