Halt Station Near Kempegowda International Airport

Reportedly, the Rs 3 crore halt station which is equipped with various amenities, near Kempegowda International Airport is finally ready.

Further the said KIA halt station is built by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), is coming up between Doddajala and Devanahalli stations.

Its location is just 3.5 km from the airport terminal and is expected to benefit more than 28,000 airport employees and passengers.

Glimpses Of the Upcoming Railway Station

The Indian Railways recently tweeted some glimpses of the newly constructed railway station.

“Rail Connectivity to Bengaluru Airport will significantly reduce travel time and provide better commuting facilities. Halt stations on this stretch are developed with modern facilities. Catch glimpses of one of the halt stations coming up near Bengaluru airport,” the tweet said.

A Relief To The Passengers

Being one of the fastest-growing cities in India, the people of Bengaluru are facing a lot of problems while commuting to various parts of the city.

With this move, Indian Railways will have a halt station on the periphery of Bengaluru’s Kempe Gowda International Airport.

Bengaluru residents have been demanding a mass transit network to the Kempegowda International Airport for almost a decade.

Till now, most of the air passengers relied on road transport such as taxis and personal cars to reach the airport.

As the airport is located more than 35 kilometres from the CBD.

Shuttle Service For Air Travelers

In addition to that, BIAL is planning to operate a shuttle service between the halt station and airport terminal according to the train schedules on this route.

“The Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) is likely to run a free shuttle service every 15 minutes from the railway station to the airport. For this, the road leading to the halt station has been repaired as well. It takes around eight minutes to travel from the railway station to the airport,” said Ashok Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager (Bengaluru).

Three Pairs Of Trains

Currently, South Western Railways (SWR) is exploring the feasibility of operating three pairs trains to and from Kempegowda International Airport for the benefit of passengers.

If things go as planned then one train will be running from Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Railway Station at 4.45 am and another at 9 pm.

While the third train will leave from Yelahanka at 7 am.

The trains will depart from Devanahalli at 6.30 am, 7.45 am and 10.30 pm for the return journey.
