Tata Sky Is India’s #1 DTH Since Last 4 Quarters: Here’s The Reason Why

Tata Sky is one of the leading telecom service providers in India and has now emerged as the number one DTH service provider for the fourth quarter in a row. This has been confirmed by none other than a report by the TRAI.

Let’s find out why Tata Sky has continuously emerged as the top television provider right here!

Tata Sky Emerges #1 DTH Of India For Fourth Quarter In A Row

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released ‘The Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators’ data for the April- June 20 quarter. In this, Tata Sky has clearly emerged as the market leader with a 32.09% market share. The same market share was about 31.61% in Jul-Sep 19 quarter.

During the last four quarters, Tata Sky has managed to gain about 0.75 million subscribers alongside the growth of the DTH sector.

The growth of the DTH sector was evident during Mar-Jun 20 and the top 13 cable operators have gained more than 1 million subscribers each and have maintained their overall subscriber base.

A Tata Sky spokesperson said, “We remain the No. 1 DTH and No.1 Pay TV platform having increased the lead over our nearest competitor. It is heartening to see the overall DTH sector maintain its resilience even in this quarter.”

Why Has Tata Sky Remained The Number One DTH Provider?

Tata Sky had recently announced cashback offers for its customers, which might be one of the reasons behind the growing popularity of the telecom provider.

The scheme said that if customers recharged for 12 months in one go, they would be eligible to receive a cashback of two months.

The telecom provider had also announced that it would revise the electronic programming guide (EPG) numbers of over 30 channels on its platform. This meant that 35 Malayalam regional channels such as Surya TV, Surya Movies, and Asianet would be revised.

The EPG numbers of various channels on its platforms were revised in early September too, which included English entertainment channels along with Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali regional channels.

Overall, we cant pinpoint to specific reasons why Tata Sky has been able to beat all other DTH providers, but overall, it’s their focus on regional content, aggresive pricing, and relief for their customers during the lockdown which have helped them to maintain their lead.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
