Return Of PUBG Mobile
Two months ago, it was banned in India over cybersecurity concerns.
But now, the South Korean firm has engaged with global cloud service providers to store Indian users’ data within the country.
This move is to assure New Delhi’s concerns about user data residency and security.
PUBG Partnership With Microsoft
On 7 November, Krafton, the parent company of PUBG Corporation, announced that it has inked a global partnership with Microsoft.
Under this deal, the games developed by Krafton or its subsidiaries which also includes PUBG Mobile, will be hosted on Microsoft Azure.
In the same regards, Krafton said, “With privacy and data security being a top priority for Krafton, the company will be working with Microsoft to ensure personal data protection through Azure,”.
So far, Microsoft operates data center regions globally, out of which three reside in India.
PUBG Corporation is expected to resume its services in India before the end of this year, according to some high-profile streamers in the country.
PUBG Corporation did not respond to a request for comment Thursday.
PUBG Marketing Campaign
Soon the company could make an announcement about its future plans for India.
Apart from this, they also plan to run a marketing campaign during the festival of Diwali next week.
PUBG has also engaged with a few local firms like SoftBank-backed Paytm and telecom giant Airtel in recent times.
So that they can explore their interest in publishing the popular mobile game in the country, as per an industry executive.
Paytm and PUBG Corporation spokesperson declined to comment.
Initially, Chinese giant Tencent published PUBG Mobile apps in India and its content was hosted on Tencent Cloud.
But the gaming firm cut publishing ties with Tencent in the country after the ban of PUBG Mobile in India.
By far, PUBG Mobile was the most popular mobile game in the country before it was banned.
It had more than 50 million monthly active users in India.
It has also helped in establishing an entire ecosystem of e-sports organizations and even a cottage industry of streamers.
