Indigo, Vistara Start Flight Bookings For June Travel; But Should You Buy Tickets?
As per some reports coming in, private airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet, GoAir, Vistara have started accepting bookings for air travel for June.
However, the big question is: Should you buy tickets at this point of time?
Private Airlines Start Taking Bookings
As per a news report published by PTI, it has been revealed that private airlines have started taking booking for tickets for June.
When contacted, sources from IndiGo, Vistara have confirmed this development to LiveMint reporters.
However, SpiceJet has not conformed, and when asked, they said, “Our international bookings are closed till June 15.”
Air India had yesterday denied that they have started accepting bookings for June travel, and they said that it will solely depend on Govt orders.
The best way to check whether private airlines like IndiGo and Vistara have started accepting flight bookings for June travel or not would be to contact their official representatives and/or check their official websites.
Should You Book Tickets Now?
It’s actually a catch-22 situation here.
Domestic flights have been canceled since March 25, when the lockdown started.
But in between, private airlines did start accepting bookings, which were closed after Govt directives.
Now, the money paid for these tickets are stuck in-between: In some cases, the refunds have been provided in the user accounts/wallets of the passengers, and not to the bank account or credit card. These refunds are mainly credit shell for future travel.
Air Passengers Association of India (APAI) National President Sudhakara Reddy has suggested that passengers should not book tickets as of now, since if cancelled, the money will be stuck.
He tweeted: “We understand 6E (IndiGo), SpiceJet, GoAir hv started taking bookings for international flights, imagining that flights will operate from 1st June. Pl don’t fall for it. Ur money will become a credit shell, instead keep it safe at home,”
We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
