A newly released report has revealed that Samsung Galaxy A51 is the world’s bestselling android smartphone model in the first quarter of 2020.

The report also tells us that the second bestselling smartphone in the world is a Xiaomi smartphone, Redmi 8.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Declared To Be The World’s Bestselling Smartphone

A report by Strategy Analytics has declared the Samsung Galaxy A51 as the world’s best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2020. As per the report, the phone has sold 6 million units, and also captured a market share of 2 percent.

On the other hand, Xiaomi’s smartphone Redmi 8 is the immediate second phone to have won the hearts of smartphone customers. The market share captured by Xiaomi Redmi 8 is noted to be 1.9 percent in the first quarter of 2020.

As per the report, Samsung’s A51 smartphone became quite popular in all regions, especially across Europe and Asia. Whereas, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 has sold very well in India and China and increasingly across Europe.

Samsung A51 has become popular for its quad camera, AMOLED screen, and the punch hole, whereas Redmi 8 has won hearts for its big battery.

Android Smartphones Make Up For Vast Majority Of Phones Sold Globally

As per Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics, “Among the Android segment, Samsung took 4 of the top 6 positions worldwide in Q1 2020, while Xiaomi grabbed two. Samsung Galaxy A51 (4G) is the world’s number one bestselling Android smartphone model and accounted for a healthy 2.3 percent share of all smartphones shipped globally in the quarter.”

The third place in the list again belongs to Samsung, with the Samsung Galaxy S20+ smartphone capturing 1.7 percent market share.

As per Linda Sui, who is the Director at Strategy Analytics, the smartphone shipments have been recorded to be 275 million units globally in the first quarter of 2020. The Android segment of smartphones made up for 86 percent share of all smartphones that were shipped worldwide in the quarter. 

She said, The vast majority of smartphones sold globally today are Android models.”
