Build, Design: New Design, Better Curves

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max sports a splash proof P2i coating with an anti-corrosion layer for the internal components. It has a new punch-hole design with a curved out glass build on the out. The new design overhaul does give Note 9 Pro Max an edge over the completion in the range.

The curves on the sides are perfectly manufactured, and it feels very premium to hold. 

The new four camera block behind also looks dapper, but the bump stays. It’s now stacked in a square ship in the middle of the top rear side. 

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is a maxed out version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. It offers the same ergonomics with glass design featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Note 9 Pro Max is available in three color combinations: Interstellar Black, Glacier White and Aurora Blue.

Display: Single Punch-Hole, 120Hz Touch Sampling Rate!

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display on top offering Full HD+ resolution. It’s a 60Hz display but offers 120Hz touch sampling rate with a punch hole camera at the top centre of the display. The colours are sharp with adequate contrast levels. Brightness levels are good enough for sunlight viewing.

Coming to the refresh rate, the display supports only 60Hz and not 90Hz or 120Hz. It does offer 120Hz touch sampling rate but isn’t a maxed out 90Hz or 120Hz display. 

Hardware: The Best At This Price?

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is powered by Snapdragon 720G, the new mid-range gaming-centric chip by Qualcomm. The chip pairs with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. It’s DDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage with support for external memory storage. 

The device has a dedicated storage slot and features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

It’s a mid-range gaming chip, and Snapdragon 720G will make sure you have everything on the ease. 

Coming performance, Vivo V19 will do a good job running day to day tasks and mid-end games. Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G is good enough for everyday use. It’s a total allrounder, and there won’t be any performance issues given extensive multitasking or extended gaming.

Cameras: New 64MP Sensor Good Enough?

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a 64-megapixel main camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle shooter, a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It’s the new upgraded 64MP sensor by Sony, the IMX686 powering the quad camera system.

The main camera further has an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera with 120-degree field of view for wide shots. It’s quite clear and the colours are punchy.

Upfront, the punch-hole houses a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.

The initial shots by Redmi Note 9 Pro Max turned out to be quite impressive for the price. The device has a lot to offer in the camera department. The new 64MP sensor does nail the shots well, and it’s good enough at this price. We are yet to test it in-depth.

Software: MIUI 11, NavIC Support!

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with support for NavIC by ISRO, which uses Indian satellites for navigation. The device runs on the latest MIUI 11 based on Android 10, and it’s been creamed to offer the best of experience. MIUI 12 will be available in a few weeks post rollout in India.

The processor comes with support for NavIC, the Indian version of satellites for fast navigation with GPS support.

Battery, Fast Charging: Bigger Battery This Time!

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max packs a massive 5,020mAh battery this time supporting 33W fast charging (fast charger shipped with the box). The device can easily run for more than a day even with extensive use. The 33W fast charger can charge up the device within a short span of time.

The new processor will also make sure that Redmi Note 9 Pro Max runs longer even with extensive usage.

Pricing, Availability: The Best At This Price?

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max price recently has been hiked after the GST hike on nobiles. Redmi Note 9 Pro Max New price starts at Rs 16,499 onwards, increased by Rs 1,500 from Rs 14,999. Available in three different storage variants, the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 16,499 now.

The mid-end Redmi Note 9 Pro Max with 6GB RAM and 128GB is now available at Rs 17,999. The top-end model costs Rs 19,999.
