Coronavirus: Dell Orders Work From Home After Bengaluru Techie & His Family Tests Positive

Dell India has asked all employees from one of their offices in Bengaluru, after a techie and his family had tested positive for coronavirus this week.

The 40-year old techie had returned from Austin, US via New York and Dubai, and was tested positive for coronavirus, becoming 1st positive case in Karnataka.

His wife and daughter too were tested positive yesterday.

Dell: Work For Home For Employees In Bengaluru

Reacting to this development, Dell has now asked all employees who worked in that office where the infected techie works, to not come to office.

That office is located at the 4th floor of Inner Ring Road near Embassy Golf Links, and not only the 4th floor, but the entire building has been sealed off, and all employees have been asked to work from home.

In an email to all employees, Dell said, “We have confirmed that one of our Bangalore team members based in the 4th floor of Dell 4 building, Annexe Wing, Inner Ring Road Domlur, has been tested positive for COVID-19… Out of the abundance of caution, all team members based on the fourth floor of Dell 4 building, annexe wing will work from home for the next 14 days i.e., until March 24,”

Another person, who is the driver of that techie has also tested positive.

Entire Apartment Being Observed, Tested

As of now, all 4 persons: the Dell employee, his wife, daugher and his driver have been placed at isolation ward in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases in Bengaluru.

Infact, the apartment where that Dell employee resides has been placed under observation.

Officials from Bengaluru District Health Officer and other officials from the Health Department visited the apartment, and every resident will be tested for coronavirus.

All residents have been asked to place themselves in isolation, and a team of health officials have parked themselves at the apartment.

The apartment association sent an email to all residents: “With principles of self-quarantine and symptomatic assessment being paramount, it has been strictly advised that everyone within the community stay indoors for the next 5 to 7 days unless an absolute emergency,”
