In a big blow to the middle class India, LPG cylinder price has been hiked by Rs upto 149, across India.

This is the 6th straight hike in LPG cylinder price in the last few months.

With the new rates, Chennai now has India’s most expensive LPG cylinder at Rs 881.

LPG Cylinder Price Hiked Across India

State-owned gas and LPG marketing firms have decided to increase the price of LPG Cylinder across the nation.

Upto Rs 149 has been hiked in one single go, making it one of the steepest hikes ever.

The last price hike happened on January 1st, when the price of every LPG cylinder was hiked by Rs 19.

In the last 5-6 months, Govt marketing firms have increased the price of LPG almost every month, thereby burdening the common man with even more expenses.

What Are The New Prices For LPG?

With this price hike, the cost of LPG cylinder in Chennai is the highest, at Rs 881, per cylinder. In Chennai, the cost of LPG has been hiked by Rs 147.

Kolkata will bear the brunt of maximum hike at Rs 149, per cylinder. A customer in Kolkata will now pay Rs 896 for one LPG cylinder.

In Delhi, the price of one cylinder has been increased by Rs 144, and the customer there will pay Rs 858.50 for LPG.

In Mumbai, price has been hiked by Rs 145.5, and now, customers will pay Rs 858.50.

Will Everyone Pay The Increased Costs For LPG?

Govt provides 12 LPG cylinders to every households, on subsidized rate, across India. However, this special rate is provided only to those households, which are economically struggling and are a recipient of subsidies from the Govt.

The subsidy is directly transferred to their bank accounts via direct benefit transfer scheme.

The rest of the consumers will need to pay the full price, along with GST.

Note here, that the GST on the LPG is calculated based on the prevalent foreign exchange rates, and global LPG price, which keeps on fluctuating.
