Jio is continuing to alter their base tariff, and in a series of changes effective December 6th, one major update has been done.

Rs 49 recharge, one of the most popular plans for JioPhone users, has been removed, and thus, as of now, Rs 75 is the base recharge for any Jio user.

Meanwhile, is Rs 399 plan from Airtel cheaper than Jio’s Rs 399 plan?

In a big shock for millions of Jio users, and especially JioPhone users, Rs 49 recharge pack has been removed by Jio.

Hence, in order to use Jio services, Rs 75 is the minimum pack which a user must opt for.

The Rs 49 recharge pack used to offer 28 days validity, and unlimited calling to any number, and 1GB data for 28 days. There was no IUC limit (calls to other networks) as well.

For millions of JioPhone users, this was the most popular pack, and the cheapest one too, compared to other telecom operators.

But now, this plan has been removed (Source)

After this removal, Rs 75 has become the base recharge for any JioPhone or non-JioPhone user.

Rs 75 pack comes under All-In-One pack provides 500MB of data per day for 28 days, and offers 500 off-network calls (outside Jio network), and unlimited Jio to Jio calls, along with 50 SMSes.

For additional off-network calls, JioPhone user will need to opt for an IUC pack or pay 6paisa per minute.

Other All-In-One packs for JioPhone users are: Rs 75, Rs 125, Rs 155 and Rs 185 plans.

Note here, that earlier JioPhone specific plans such as Rs 99, Rs 153, Rs 297 and Rs 594 are still available, and has limited off-network calls, along with limited data.

Rs 99 plan, for instance, offers 500MB data for 28 days, but no off-network calls.

Rs 399 Plan From Airtel Is Cheapest?

Both Jio and Airtel offer Rs 399 combo plan, which offers 56 days validity, and 1.5GB data per day, along with 100 SMSes per day.

Airtel recently launched this plan, and announced via tweet.

However, since Airtel now offers absolutely free off-network calls (Airtel to Jio, Airtel to Vodafone, Airtel to BSNL), but Jio is offering only 2000 off-network minutes.

This makes Rs 399 plan from Airtel as the cheapest when compared with Jio.
