Supreme Court has made strong objection to the practice of trolling on social media, and have asked the Govt. to formulate strict regulation for entire social media.
Especially mentioned were two of the biggest social media platforms: Facebook and Whatsapp.
Supreme Court: We Are Fed Up With Trolls
A bench headed by Justice Deepak Gupta has lashed out at entire social media, for encouraging trolling and character assasination.
During the hearing of a case pertaining to regulation of social media, the top Court said, “Why should someone be able to troll me and spread lies about my character online.”
The Bench stated that the Govt. should ensure that online privacy, state sovereignty and the reputation of an individual is protected, under all circumstances.
Supreme Court: Anyone Can Buy Guns On Dark Web
Mixing social media with the dark web, the Court said that anyone with the Internet connection can now buy guns and unleash terror.
Justice Deepak Gupta said, “It is dangerous how some of these technologies work. With a little help, I could have purchased an AK-47 on the Dark Web in just five minutes.”
We would like to mention that social media and the dark web are entirely different aspect.
Justice Gupta stated that he is fed up the way technology is being misused in India, and expressed his desire to quit using smartphones and start using feature phone.
On this, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal stated that this would be a wise decision.

Supreme Court To Govt: Regulate Social Media Now
Supreme Court has ordered the Govt. to formulate guidelines on regulating social media in India, especially Whatsapp and Facebook.
Infact, the Govt. has been given three weeks to file an affidavit, wherein the timeline should be mentioned on how the guidelines should be formulated to regulate and control social media.
The movement and inclination to regulate social media is gaining steam in India, especially now, as UIDAI has stated in the Supreme Court that a new law is required to monitor and regulate social media in India.
