This Mumbai Hotel Charged Rs 1700 For 2 Boiled Eggs; Social Media In Uproar & Shock
After the controversy over Rs 442 worth of two bananas charged by JW Marriott in Chandigarh, it is the turn of this Mumbai hotel, which charged Rs 1700 for two boiled eggs.
Social media is shocked and in an uproar over this ridiculous pricing.
Rs 1700 For Two Boiled Eggs
Canada based 5-star hotel chain: Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai recently gave a bill to a customer, which is being widely circulated shared because of the prices mentioned.
The customer was charged Rs 1700 for two boiled eggs, which boils down to Rs 850 for one egg, and everyone is shocked over this ridiculous pricing.
In the bill, there are other egg-related items as well, such as omelette, which again has been charged Rs 850 per egg.
In short, any egg-related item is charged Rs 850 per egg, whereas a diet Coke has been charged Rs 260.
A user named Kartik Dhar shared the bill on Twitter, wherein he invited Rahul Bose to start an agitation against this pricing.

You are really not so poor .
Go for hotel offering 2 omelet worth 170000 on a discount price of 17000 RS.
Don't underestimate urself
Rahul Bose was the customer from JW Marriott, who had tweeted the Rs 442 worth of banana invoice, which became viral.
Social Media In Uproar And Shock
Slowly and gradually, Kartik’s invoice from Four Seasons Hotel with Rs 1700 charge for two boiled eggs is spreading across social media, and people are reacting over this pricing.
In general, eggs are sold of Rs 5 to Rs 10 per piece, depending on the quality and the place of purchase. But Rs 850 for one egg is not being digested at all by social media users.
Twitter users made fun of the high bill, and tried to rationalize it by funny justifications:
what profit? Omelet master salary in Dhaba is 3000/pm and the Sui-Chef salary in 5 stars is 60,000/pm.

Pura mohalla kha leta vo bhi daba daba ke..
On the name of luxury or 5 star you can't just charge ridiculous prices . 300 times the actual cost . This is hilarious , and coke bottle , what for the mrp is .

On the other hand, some users blamed Kartik for ‘defaming’ the hotel by sharing the invoice. As per them, 5-star hotels have the right to charge food items as per their own discretion, and if the high charges are so bothering, people shouldn’t visit there.
Here are some reactions supporting the hotel:
If you think that the price is unjustified, better you don't consume it. The price charged is just not only for 2 eggs, it also includes the services provided by the hotel to you. so plzz just to defame a hotel property, don't rattle around.

One does check the menu and price before ordering doesn’t one? Can understand Rahul Bose’s incident on bananas which BTW FHRAI commented as in line with business but what next? Asking Modi to cap F&B pricing in luxury hotels?!

Don’t be so ignorant. The chef who boiled your egg came from France, and it’s cooked in spring water using Himalayan pink salt. They used sanitized utensils and plates and served at your table in a impeccable https://t.co/zWSZjWNEOM’s totally worth the cost. Don’t blame hotel??

And also dont understand , why don't people see the rate card in Menu and order , rather than looking for publicity on SM

No 5-star hotel forcing to order, pricing is their prerogative , we can always decide not to stay in 5-star or avoid food, there are Oyo hotel also …
In the Rahul Bose case of bananas being charged Rs 442, the hotel was eventually slapped with a penalty by GST Council, for wrongfully charging GST on the food bill.
It would be interesting to observe how the Four Seasons Hotel will deal with this matter. There has been no reaction from them as of now.
