Swiggy Gets 43 Orders Of Biryani Every 60 Seconds; Who’s This Man Who Ordered 17,000+ Times?

Did you know that biryani is still the nation’s favourite food, despite there being multiple other cuisines available? Or that coffee is India’s preferred drink and not tea? All this has been revealed to us by Swiggy, one of India’s favourite platforms for online food ordering.

It’s been a full five years since Swiggy has been launched, and as per Swiggy, they have ‘come a long way’. For their five year anniversary, Swiggy has shared with the world some interesting facts and trivia.

Swiggy’s ‘Most Ordered’ List

At the top of the most ordered food items list is the traditional and very much loved dish – Biryani! Biryani is ordered by foodies on Swiggy at the astonishing rate of 43 orders per minute, be it day or night. Dosa comes in close, at second place, followed by burgers at the third place. 

Gulab Jamun is the most ordered dessert and is followed by ras malai by a wide margin, as per Swiggy. Extra sauce is the most popular add-on, it is the most common instruction left especially by people ordering food. 

Swiggy has noted that the craze about fast food is here to stay, which can be seen by the fact that the Subway, Domino’s Pizza, McDonald’s and Burger King have recorded the highest number of orders in the last five years. 

Also, chai is no longer the ‘hot favourite’ of India, but has now been replaced with coffee. 

What’s interesting is Swiggy has said that vegetarianism is an increasing trend among foodies of India, as ‘Pure Veg’ is the most popular filter applied while ordering. 

Customer Orders 17000+ Times: Who Is He? 

Swiggy has one very faithful customer, who hails from Bengaluru, and has ordered a whopping 17,962 times on the platform. Swiggy’s highest dessert order value till date was when a customer ordered ice cream worth Rs. 76,527. 

Swiggy’s delivery executives have travelled as much as 5,11,45,09,008 km in the last five years! (Yes, that is an actual number!) Swiggy also has women delivery executives, and they have delivered more than 2,63,989 orders to date.

Swiggy’s family has grown to more than 2 lakh delivery executives, 1.2 lakh restaurant partners in about 290 cities of India.
