Realme stormed up the Indian smartphone market recently with two new devices. One being the much-hyped Realme 3 Pro and the other is the second generation Realme C series smartphone, Realme C2.

Available at a starting price of Rs 5,999, Realme C2 will go against some of the best budget stalwarts.

Backed by a set of mid-range specs and features, Realme C2 will challenge the likes of Samsung Galaxy M10, newly launched Redmi 7 and Asus Zenfone Max M2.

Galaxy M10 and Redmi 7 being the most exciting in the lineup, we have done a complete comparison to find out who’s got the better at this price.

Design & Build

All the smartphones come with a plastic build on the out. The designs are different and each comes with something unique. Redmi 7 has an aura design on the out, while Realme C2 has a gradient sort of finish. Galaxy M10 has standard plain colors with a glossy finish.

Polycarbonate bodies on all the smartphones offer durability, though all are fingerprint magnets.

Display

Realme C2 comes with a 6.1-inch HD+ waterdrop notched display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and Samsung Galaxy M10 has a 6.2-inch HD+ TFT display. Finally, Xiaomi Redmi 7 comes with a 6.26-inch HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

All being only-HD displays, you won’t see any difference in particular.

All have notches on top of their displays. Realme C2 and Galaxy M10 have water drop V shaped notches, and Redmi 7 has a circular dot notch.

Redmi 7 has slightly larger bezels and chin compared to the other two, but again evidently very similar. As a plus, Redmi 7 has Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.


Hardware & Variants

Realme C2 runs on Helio P22, Galaxy M10 on Exynos 7870 and Xiaomi Redmi 7 on Snapdragon 632 processor. All three being budget sensors, each of them will be able to offer standard day to day performance.

If put against each other, Snapdragon 632 has a slight edge here in terms of extended usage and heavy games.

Realme C2, Galaxy M10 and Redmi 7 are available in similar storage sizes: a base model 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage.


Cameras

All the three smartphones come with dual camera systems at the back. Realme C2 comes with a primary 13MP lens coupled with a 2MP depth sensor. Samsung Galaxy M10, on the other hand, comes with a 13MP primary camera paired with a 5MP wide-angle camera.

Finally, coming to Xiaomi Redmi 7, it comes with a 12MP primary camera with 1.25um pixel size and a 2MP depth sensor.

Coming to daylight performance, all three smartphones offer above average performance with almost accurate colours and details. The dynamic range is good, and HDR does a fair job.

Coming to low light performance, Galaxy M10 and Redmi 7 offers slightly better pictures, though they lack details.

Coming to the front camera, Realme C2 comes with a 5MP selfie camera, Samsung Galaxy M10 has a 5MP selfie shooter and Xiaomi Redmi 7 sports an 8MP front sensor.

Software

Realme C2 runs on Android 9 Pie with the latest Color OS 6.0 on top. Samsung Galaxy M10 has its own in-house UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo and Redmi 7 comes with Android 9 Pie skinned with MIUI 10.

All the three smartphones come with their own respective UIs with different tweaks and features.

Leaving the choice to a user’s preference over UI, the new Color OS has improved significantly.

Samsung’s own UI and still runs on the dated Android Oreo, while the other two has the latest version of Androids. On the downside, MIUI comes with ads within the system UI.


Battery

Realme C2 has a 4,000mAh battery, Samsung Galaxy M10 has a smaller 3,400mAh battery and Xiaomi Redmi 7 comes with the same 4,000mAh battery.

Galaxy loses out on the overall capacity, but can easily run for a day.

Realme C2 and Redmi 7 though will be able to pull off a whole day on heavy usage.

Pricing

Realme C2 is priced at Rs 5,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB base variant and Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage top variant. Samsung Galaxy M10 costs Rs 7,990 for 2GB RAM/16GB model and Rs 8,990 for 3GB RAM/32GB storage model.

Xiaomi Redmi 7 has been priced at Rs 7,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB model and Rs 8,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant.

VERDICT : Realme C2 vs Redmi 7 vs Samsung Galaxy M10

Realme C2 being the cheapest of the three, will have the natural advantage in the entry-budget category. All the three devices come with somewhat similar specifications and features.

Realme C2 is affordable and good, given it’s decent set of specs.

If performance is your primary concern, Redmi 7 would suit the need.

In term of photography, Galaxy M10 has a slight edge.

Realme C2 being aggressively priced will hold tight against its rivals. If you are looking for a decent entry-level device, Realme C2 would do the job starting at just Rs 5,999.
